Shouldn't my son have lost his front teeth by now?

My son is 6 and he will be 7 in August. Most if not all of his friends in first grade have lost several teeth. He has not had one loose tooth yet, that I had known of. He went to his grandmothers and while chewing gum he lost the very last tooth on the bottom left. Isnt it unusual to loose that first? Also, I can see that the new tooth has already popped right through the gum some..do you think this tooth pushed the other one out? Please let me know what you think. My son does not have a dentist yet, but does take flouride at school and has never had a cavity.

Shouldn't my son have lost his front teeth by now?
BETHANY,

DON'T BE OVERLY WORRIED. SOME KIDS ARE LATE BLOOMERS WHERE TEETH ARE CONCERNED.

AS YOU CAN READ FROM THE CHART, SOME KIDS GET THEIR FIRST PERMANENT ONE BETWEEN 6-7 YEARS OF AGE. HE WILL GET THEM, DON'T WORRY.
Reply:Give it time my son is nine and his is still falling out!
Reply:I did not lose my first tooth till I was in the second or third grade and as for his back teeth I only recall losing one and it was because the second one started 2 come in and pushed the other one out, other than that I have only had back teeth pulled by a dentist and I think that has only been 1 so far. Hope this helps
Reply:I have picture of both my kids at age 8 with NO FRONT TEETH!
Reply:Wow, he shouldn't have lost that tooth first. Not if it is where you say. That is a molar that he should keep till he is around 12. I think you should get him seen, because he may need a space maintainer to hold open the space for the adult tooth.

Every child matures at a different rate. I would say that if he hasn't lost it by 7 1/2, then get a dentist to look at it.
