Kittens looses teeth (fangs?), now she cant eat...?

my 6 month old kitten lost her teeth (fangs? whatever the term for that is) 4 days ago...and are replaced with new ones, she cant eat her iams kittens dry cat food... y is that so? is her gums in pain?

i figured u guys will suggest that i switch her to wet food but the problem is, there is no iams wet variety here in my country, only whiskas' wet variety... what should i do then? im afraid that if i make her eat whiskas for a while, she may get diarrhea, my kitten is a persian and her stomach is very sensitive

mix ur kitten's iams dry cat food with a wet variety cat food like fancy feast and se if she'll eat it. she will get accustomed to the taste of the wet variety food because u mixed her dry food with eat and will still taste it. make taht 1 50/50 partition. She'll continue to loose weight if she doesnt eat. better do something now... on another side, its normal... shell be fine in no time...
Reply:Buy her wet food, and get her to a vet.
Reply:Feed her a good brand of wet. There are some good ones out there. She's got to eat or die. When her new teeth get settled in put her back on dry.
Reply:maybe try to mix iams dry food with the wet food she will get to eat and it will be easier on her stomach because she can eat her regular food while getting used to a new one i hope i helped.
Reply:nothing to worry about
Reply:Any wet cat food would be better than nothing. I had a cat that ate meat baby food and loved it, also tuna fish. If her teeth aren't better in about a week, I would take her to the vet to make sure everything is fine. I have never had a kitten have trouble with it's teeth. Might be a sign, just watch closely.
Reply:kittens/cats don't use the fangs to eat with. the fangs are for tearing live prey apart. they eat the dry food with the molars. I have an adult cat who has lost 3 of her fangs and some molars and she still eats dry food. don't worry so much, she'll be fine.
Reply:Im not sure why your cat acts like it can no longer eat.A vet will tell you that all cats do need hard and moist food in their diets. All soft food will lead to plaque on the teeth and dry food cleans the teeth off and keeps the teeth strong. My persian eats both dry and moist and her stomach is just fine.Starvation-vs-diarrhea,it should not be that hard of a choice for you. That cat is to finiky and you must work on its diet.
Reply:Our you saying she lost her feline incisors? Try tuna but although full of protein it should only be feed 2-3 times weekly. Moisten her dry food with a small amount of water. Call the company and find out the closes location of the Iams where u can purchase. Have you tried the pet shops or some feed stores also carry. I don't know why here gums are inflamed where she is having a hard time eating. One of my cats is 8 and he has lost most of his front teeth. He still eats dry food. At 6 months your kitten's organs are still developing and should not eat much can food till 10 -12 months, then sparingly. It is bad on their stomachs. It causes stomach upset and diarrhea. GOD BLESS YOU! sus04mc@yahoo.com
Reply:feed her milk mixed with half water or little water mixed in it.dont feed him any thing ur cat is too young kitten so obviously her stomach will be weak.
Reply:Why don't you go to wwwcatinfo.org and read about doing a raw diet for your kitten. Whiskas is terrible and you are right not to buy it for her.

Also at www.littlebigcat.com Dr. Jean Hovfe has an article titled "Easy Homemade Diets for Cats and Dogs." If you do it yourself following a veterinarian's "recipe" you will be givning her the best possible food.

She shouldn't be having trouble with her teeth.
Reply:Those are her canine teeth. She should still be able to eat her food, so maybe something else is going on. I recommend seeing your vet, if you haven't already done so.

Like someone else said, you could try adding a little warm water to the dry Iams food.
Reply:This is very odd - my kitten lost her canine teeth as well and little teeth were coming out next to them and took like 2 weeks for them to fully come out but it never caused her an issue with eating.... they dont use those fangs to eat dry food, they use their back teeth - I'm wondering if the fangs are not the issue here. Try adding a little water to the dry food. My cat since day one has eaten moist and dry food - she eats Whiskas and is fine. Good luck.
Reply:I had the same problem 2 month ago.

My kitten didn't want his dry food, I guess his gums were very sensitive at that time. Same thing for a human baby when he get his first teeth...

Anyway, I gave him some whiskas wet food, but not too much, to void diarrhea. And I wet his dry food with some water (or with the water you get in the tuna box, he just love that taste!) so it was easier for him to eat his dry food.

I also put some dry food in the wet whiskas I gave him, so he still eat some dry food.
