I had one of my upper teeth re-cemented on the left side because it was loose...:?

and now my whole left side is swollen and in pain...I called my Dentist and he said it could be infected...wish he would have told me that yesterday when he looked at it...instead he just re-cemented it....How can I get the swelling down and ease the pain? Should I even go back to the same Dentist???

i would go to your doctor and get him to check it and see if you need antibiotics.

i hope you get better.
Reply:Mouth infections come on FAST! It may not have shown any sighn of infections yesterday. Hot packs on the face help loosen the puss(I know this is gross) and helps it seep through and drain. Swish mouth with warm salt water 6-7 times a day (Heat helps loosen puss, salt is natural heaing agent for the mouth). You dentist should give you a script for antibiotics and maybe some tylenole 3 or loratabs for the pain.

Just so you know I have seen a person one day who looked perfectly fine with a little tooth pain. Not much on the x-ray persay, given them scripts of antibiotic and pain med. They got pain meds filled not antibiotics and in two days bottom of jaw was the size of a grapefruit and we had to operate on them. Your face is warm with lots of blood vessels and infection is constantly inriched because of these two factors.
