Whats the going rate for teeth now?

In other words, my son is getting ready to start loosing teeth, and I need to know how much to give him for each tooth. I don't want him to think the tooth fairy is giving his friends more or less money for their teeth! When I was little it was a silver dollar for each tooth.

one buck a tooth is ALL they need. If you want to go the extra mile, get some silver dollars, but keep in mind if you do, its best to be consistant with every tooth lost.. if they get a shiny new silver dollar once, they should get the same everytime.

Reply:2-5 dollars depending on tooth size, and how easily the kid can be fobbed off.
Reply:when I was a kid the "tooth fairy" would leave us the largest coin. for me it was a quarter, for my sister it was a loonie, and for my brother it was a toonie (btw we are Canadian) I figure with the way inflation is going it's up to about $5.00 by now (seeing that I am in my early 30's) so that is what I give my son. I know that it is probably way too much tho!
Reply:my mom used to give me 1 dollar for front teeth, 2 for incisors, and 3 for molars. Now, I would add a dollar to that. making it fun can save you money. If you add a glitter trail (a stream of glitter on the windowsill, down the floor, and to her bed), that makes it more fun and their excitement is over more than just the money.





But it is kind of ridiculous. In my mom's generation, they got a quarter and were happy with it! :)
Reply:where I am most kids get $1-$2 from the tooth fairy. I explained to my kids that I spoke to the tooth fairy and we agreed on a price that I thought was appropriate and that is why they do not get $10 like one of their friends

Reply:our tooth fairy leaves one dollar per tooth unless it has cavities the tooth fairy can't do anything with cavities so then it is only .50. She also leaves fairy dust(sparley glitter) on the pillow.
Reply:We give my son $1.00 per tooth. He's been very happy to get it! We are not stingy with him at all with holidays, etc. When I heard at church the other day that a little girl got $10.00 per tooth, I thought the people were nuts! No wonder kids today want everything and act so spoiled! I teach school and can see who's spoiled a mile away. What's after the ten bucks? $100 for each "A" on the report card? It gets pretty pricey to start so high!
Reply:every parent gives a different amount.......my parents started w/a dollar per tooth...then they kept rising it to 20 dollars
