My son's new tooth is growing in behind his loose one...should I pull the baby tooth?

My 6 year old son has had a loose tooth (his first) for about a month now. It is quite loose now, but I can see his new tooth growing in behind (not under) the baby tooth. It looks like the new tooth is just trying to come in around the baby tooth. He is willing to pull it out, but I don't want to hurt him or cause damage. Should we pull it, or just wait it out? Will the new tooth eventually straighten out and come forward, or will it always be behind the other teeth?

The new tooth could come in crooked if the old tooth is not gone. I would take him to the Dentist and have them pull it out in this case....just so there is not any damage to the gums or new tooth. The old tooth will not necessarily be pushed out by the new one. This happened to my daughter.... the new one just grew behind the other. We ended up having to go to the Dentist to get it pulled.
Reply:no, just let it fall out itself. the baby tooth will get pushed in by the bigger tooth. he would cry a lot if you pulled it and plus its better to just let the thing fall out itself
Reply:you should pull it out now or the other tooth will not be straight.
Reply:my teeth are as straight as tran tacks and i never had braces. this happened to me.my tooth wasnt wobbly but i needed sumthin to do durin history so i pulled it out. it wasnt sore..... until dad tricked me to put salt on it ahjhhhhhhh

lmfao

ne ways hell be fine
Reply:it will always be behind ulness you pull the baby tooth now. we never pulled my baby tooth that did that, and the dentist had to pull it out for me (although that one wasn't loose at all) and I had to get braces. (although I also had an overbite.) But it would be best to pull it now, do the "slam the door" trick. always works if you tie it right. good luck!
Reply:nope.. the new tooth wil push the old one.. but if it hurts go to ur dentist.
Reply:thats how my sons tooth grew in itll fall out on its own unless he whats you to pull it but its normal
Reply:yes If you let that loose one stay when the other one's growing it won't be loose anymore. get him to a dentist and ask. I'm no doctor. experience.
Reply:You should either pull the loose tooth yourself, or if you are not comfortable, take him to a dentist. From experience, I now have a pushed back took because years ago I did not pull my loose tooth out in time and another was growing in behind. All my teeth are straight except for the one I procrastinated pulling. I really recommend you pulling that tooth out now or prepare for the expense of braces later. :)
Reply:Call your dentist. Quit asking us on YA! The dentist will know better than we would since you appear to be SO scared about the issue.
Reply:If the tooth is loose enough pull it, if not take him to your dentist to pull it. The baby tooth is in the way of the permanent and can cause your son's teeth to be crooked. (Happened to me on my bottom row.)
