I have a loose molar tooth is it necessary to remove it or what harm am I getting into?

My dentist wants to pull a loose molar loose tooth and since it does not hurt me I am wondering and have told him is it really necessary to remove it and all he says is "it is loose". My question is is it necessary to do so?

Just from your question, my immediate answer is yes, but this also depends on several things. I am in the dental field and assuming that you are an adult, then yes it needs to come out. The loose tooth puts you at risk for infection. The reason for most adult loose teeth, aside from trauma, is bone loss. There may be little bone to hold the tooth in place, so it will not "tighten" back up and it serves you no purpose. Also, the bacteria associated with bone loss can spread to the other teeth, or can enter your bloodstream and affect your overall health. Those bacteria are linked to heart attack, stroke, and respiratory disease just to name a few. If there is no way to return the tooth to health, trust the dentist and have it taken out.
Reply:well, this guy sounds like he really knows what he is talking about:-)

i second him
Reply:if it loose u could lose it in the night and swallow it if it lose u should get it extracted before it does become painful or abcessed. if u dont trust that dentist try another and see if they say something different.
