Loose tooth result of trauma?

Had a little boxing match, and got punched in the mouth, I've had a fat lip for about 3 days, it's just going down but my tooth seems to be quite loose. It is my smaller left incisor tooth, right next to my front tooth

i know my best bet is to go to a dentist, but is there ANY way it could heal up on its own like, without getting it bonded or splinted?

Loose tooth result of trauma?
It can heal by itself, but it's totally unpredictable, usually this kind of trauma requires splinting, which is important for healing of the tissue surrounding the tooth itself, the trauma can cause necrosis of the pulp tissue (nerve death), resulting in an infection and abscess later on. seeing a dentist ASAP after such trauma is important to save the tooth and avoid any complications, the dentist can splint the tooth using a non-rigid splint which will allow minor natural movement of the tooth, or a rigid splint which doesn't allow any movement at all, each has it's indications and contraindications, usually the dentist will decide what's best, he might elect to perform a root canal later on if tooth has symptoms or nerve death occur.
Reply:yes, you've probably had your tooth knocked around a bit.

yes, it should tighten up on it's own without going to a dentist. the best thing, tho, is to go to the dentist, have an xray and possibly get it splinted into place.

if you choose not to go, just avoid using your tooth--pretend it doesn't even exist (no biting into anything for a week or so)

good luck
Reply:It is possible it might heal up if the trauma wasn't too much, but you are taking a big risk because your tooth might die and you'll need a root canal or extraction or it might tighten up in an abnormal way and when you bite down, you'd traumatize the tooth even further. Next time you engage in contact sports, pls have some sort of mouthguard so you don't have to go thru this again
