11 year old son's loose tooth?

My son has a loose tooth. Its the second to the last tooth. Is this a tooth that is suppose to be loose? My friend said its a 12 year old molar. I was just wondering, I dont remember those.

Evanlah,

Please allow me to answer your question this way. Molars are a tooth that is not necessarily needed by people today.

But in my case, this particular tooth never fell out. I am 58 yrs old now and have upper and lower dentures in my mouth. An had the orthodontist to place two posts in the bottom of my mouth. Which later will accept a snap. This process is to help stabilize my bottom denture. An give me more help in eating. The Molar is still under the jaw bone, laying on it's side! The orthodontist said let it go unless it begins to start problems. When your son looses this molar it will grow another tooth which will be an adult tooth. So I do hope every thing works out for him and for you dear. Don't take things for granted. An it doesn't cost you much to at least consult your dentist about his problem. Bye for now honey . gunslinger701@yahoo.com Rick in Ct.
Reply:Consult a dentist. Son's too young to lose that tooth. There also may be something more serious that needs early attention.
Reply:You could have his dentist check it out. I would do that in the case that he has gum disease, which loosens teeth.
Reply:Count from the FRONT centreline of his mouth. This loose tooth is probably the 5th from the front, and is therefore a baby tooth. Adult molars are 6th and 7th from the front.
Reply:DON'T PULL YOUR SON'S TOOTH OUT BY YOURSELF!

GO TO THE DENTIST, PRONTO!
