Do you need to do anything special to get a loose tooth out of a childs mouth?

My daughter is almost 6 and has her first real loose tooth. The permanent teeth are already in behind them and we have waited so long for this teeth to be loose. It is almost out, do I need to do anything to get it out. It is starting to hurt her when she eats. Or do just let it fall out? This is my first experience with loose teeth. thanks..

Do you need to do anything special to get a loose tooth out of a childs mouth?
My daughter would not ALLOW me to pull out her loose teeth! If it is hurting her enough, she will mess with it on her own and it will eventually come out. I wouldn't stress about it. Sometimes pulling it out is more stressful to the child and instead of thinking of the benefit of the tooth fairy, they come to dread the aspect of teeth falling out as they grow. My daughter started loosing hers at age 4 and she just lost her last baby tooth at age 9. Her teeth have come in perfectly and we did not forcibly pull any of them.
Reply:Normally I'd say just let it come out, but if it's hurting her, then you should do something to help it along. Get her to wiggle it to make it come loose faster. Don't bother trying the doornob trick or anything stupid like that, wiggling works!!
Reply:My dad used to tie a string around the loose tooth and tie the other end to a doorknob and slam the door. He stopped doing that when he put the string around one of my brother's teeth that wasn't even loose.
Reply:Pliers and a shot of whiskey for the little tyke should work just fine.
Reply:Tie one end of a string around her tooth and the other on the door, have her stand away from the door and slam the door shut and bam, tooth is out ! or you can have her stand on a stair way with her tooth tied and the other to a large rock or something heavy, make sure you hold her and drop the object over board ! good luck Or you can wait for it to fall out itself duh
Reply:No! Please leave it alone. It will come off on it's own. If you think your child feels discomfort as a result ot the tooth, take her to a dentist!! They'll know the right thing to do, Please!!!
Reply:It will just come out. If you can not wait, you have 2 choices - speed - pull fast or call the child's Dentist as he will pull it less expensive than any tooth.
Reply:Tell her to wiggle it with her tongue to try to get it out. Forcing it out will do more harm than good. As for the eating, I remember as a kid chewing my food on one side of my mouth to avoid the loose tooth, lol, it will be out soon, she can tough it out.
Reply:GIVE HER AN APPLE TO EAT THAT ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME

OR INSTEAD OF JUST MOVING IT BACK AND FORTH TRY TWISTING IT IN CIRCLES....
Reply:this is normal let nature have a go at it if not allergies like nuts have her eat a peanut butter sandwich or just have her twist and turn it with her tongue til it falls out
Reply:Dental Emergencies

Your child should see a dentist immediately if a tooth is knocked out or damaged in a fall or accident. This is a dental emergency.

Should My Child See A Doctor?

When to call the dentist or hospital:

If you are not sure about what to do, always call a dentist or hospital.

What Do I Do?

Give your child a mouth check to see if there are loose or damaged teeth:

If he is young and has a very loose tooth, it should be removed to prevent him from swallowing or inhaling it.

If a tooth is broken or damaged, take him to be seen by a dentist.

If a permanent tooth has been knocked out it often can be saved if you act immediately:

Find the tooth.

Handle the tooth by the part you normally see.

Gently rinse the tooth under tap water in a closed sink (do not scrub).

If possible, gently place the tooth back into the opening it fell out of.

Hold the tooth in place while going to the dentist or hospital.

If the tooth can not be placed back into the opening, place it under your tongue or your child's tongue (if there is no danger of the child swallowing it) or place it in some milk.

Immediately go to the dentist or hospital, where the tooth can be replaced or splinted in place.

What Shouldn't I Do?

If your child has damaged a tooth or knocked one out:

Do not wait. If a tooth has fallen out and you can get help immediately, it has a good chance of being saved.

Do not scrub the tooth. Just rinse it under tap water.

Do not handle the root of the tooth, only handle the part you normally see.

Do not leave a very loose tooth in a young child's mouth.

Do not place the tooth under the tongue of a very young child or an older child who is unconscious or crying.

Could It Be Prevented?

Teach your child to use safety equipment in contact sports (mouth guards, face masks, etc.).

Use seat belts and child safety seats in automobiles.
Reply:take a paper towel and place it on the tooth to dry it out a little then take the paper towel and wrap it around the tooth with you thumb and pointer finger, finally, count 1...2...3... and pull. you should feel a pop and the tooth will then be ready to go under a pillow and await for the toothfairy!
Reply:my mother used to make me bite into a apple
Reply:I take a wet/damp cloth and pull it out! It doesn't hurt at all, just ask mE!(Even if there is pain it will be very little!)
Reply:my dad used to sit me down on a chair and tell me to open my mouth. he would grab hold of my tooth but not do anything. then he would start asking me questions or telling me a story and then when i was distracted he would yank it out without warning. it worked every time!
Reply:Same boat here. My middle child just lost her first tooth last night. In fact, I made her stay up an extra hour because it was hanging on by a thread and she could have swallowed it in her sleep.

I have a trick that I learned with my first child and I've done it for every loose tooth since then and she loves it!

Take a long piece of dental floss. Tie it around the tooth, below the gum line. Don't knot it, just tie it one. Once it's below the gum line, pull horizontally like you are trying to tighten the knot. It will sever the last "root(s) and it'll pop out.

We did it last night and she said it didn't hurt at all. My oldest says the same thing and that she loves doing it that way. 9 times out of 10 the tooth will still be on the string!

PS: My daughter's permanent teeth are also behind her baby teeth...LOL. Like a shark.
Reply:i dont think so if it has come loose i would say it wont be long to it will pop out
Reply:just let it come out, but if it starts hurting and it gets out of control then just pull it out!
