What do i do when i have a loose tooth with a cavity?

Anyone know what's the best thing to do when you have a loose tooth with a cavity?

It depends on the tooth, but in either case with decay involved you should see your dentist.

If this is a deciduous tooth the decay may have reached the permanent tooth as well, so it would need to be evaluated. When decay is present there could be infection, an infection may mean that this need to be treated with antibiotics along with an extraction of the deciduous tooth.

If this is a permanent tooth, it may need a simple filling, once the decay is taken care of, the tooth may "tighten up" in the socket again. It's possible that it may require some other type treatment such as splinting.

It's hard to say without knowing which tooth and how much decay, but your best bet is to see your dentist for a further evaluation so he can determine if saving or extracting is the best solution for your tooth.

I hope I've been of some help and good luck with your pending procedure.
Reply:Go to your dentist and get rid of it before the pain gets too bad!!!!
Reply:wait until it becomes really loose and pull it out your self to avoid pain. if its loose it doesn't matter if it has a cavity because its coming out anyway
Reply:Depends on the degree of the cavity and the looseness of the tooth. Definitely go to see your dentist. Especially if you'd like to potentially save it or not be in any pain.
Reply:If it isn't a baby tooth I suggest you go to the dentist. Hopefully they can fix both problems.
Reply:Go to the dentist. If it gets too bad, they won't be able to fix it and they'll have to pull it.
