My 9 yr old son will not pull the loose tooth...?

My 9 yr old son will not pull his loose tooth in his mouth! It is just hanging by a thread and looks disgusting. I can't pull it out because I do not want to hurt him and he is willing to go around with a tooth that swings in his mouth. What should I do?

Just let him get it out on his own. He will undoubtedly use his tongue to probe. If he pulls it out and there is too much gum tissue attached to the tooth, he could tear the gum tissue and cause lots of bleeding. It will detach in good time.

Just leave it be. Eventually the tooth will fall out and he will probabbly come running to you to show you how 'cool' it is. He may even decide to pull it his own self so don't worry or stress about it at all.
Reply:I used to do that too! I was such a "baby" when it came to pulling out my loose teeth and I wouldn't let anyone else near me. It will eventually fall out on its own. If it is that loose, you can also try and trick him into eating something that will make it fall out - kinda like the whole eating an apple theory.
Reply:A lot of kids are like that, I was. It actually hurts a lot if you try to yank it out even when it's hanging on by a thread. It will probably come right out next time he eats something. This is not out of the norm. Just let it come out on its own or if he pulls it out on his own. no biggie.

Reply:Buy some oragel and numb it up before trying to pull it and have a glass of ice water near by to wash his mouth out as soon as the tooth comes out. In the past week between two kids I have pulled 4 teeth without a tear or whimper because I numb it first
