Periodontal Gum Disease - Loose Tooth?

I am a teenager with braces, so my gums are generally slightly swollen. After my last cleaning, I have been taking care of my teeth much better than before, blushing and flossing twice daily.

However, I still think I have periodontal disease. My swollen gums have been bleeding, as I have been trying to restore them to being healthy. Recently one of my adult teeth has started to become loose, I believe because of bone mass loss. It is held in place by my braces, and I have been brushing and flossing extensively on the tooth. Is there any way for the tooth to reroot itself? It is not very loose. What should I do to prevent tooth loss?

Periodontal Gum Disease - Loose Tooth?
OK...first of all, your bleeding gums could just be something as simple as gingevitis. keep flossing because that helps you keep healthy gums. It is harder to floss with braces, so that complication could be another cause for the bleeding. Try using a mouthwash as well, that would help heal up any bacterial infections including gingevitis. Try these things before assuming it is periodontal. I would say if you had periodontal your orthodontist would notice simptoms of it. YOu're probably just being paranoid. As for the loose tooth. You have braces. Braces move your teeth. So some teeth may feel loose sometimes (just a little). It's nothing to worry about. But don't over due the brushing and flossing around that tooth. YOu could irritate it more. Good luck!
Reply:Just keep it clean man and your good. I have a wobbly adult tooth but it's one I got a root canal in, its probably a front tooth right?
Reply:if its loose chances are it IS going to fall off (ie tooth never reroots itself), however, there is PLENTY of cosmetic dental options these days to restore your teeth to the point of perfection so my recommendation would be to continue keeping your teeth healthy and when the braces come off, get a good dentist to assess your options...

oh and above all go see a doctor, your teeth are priceless possessions..
Reply:If you have braces you are going to the orthodontist regularly so ask them about the gum problems. Yes they get swollen from the braces, and don't braces gradually move the teeth to their correct placement, so maybe they would be slightly loose. Maybe you are brushing and flossing too hard, that can be a problem also. Before you panic go to your orthodontist and ask them about your concerns, and also get a second opinion from your dentist to make you feel better. Braces can be a pain both physically and mentally so see the professionals to set yourself at ease!
Reply:go and see a periodontist.maybe you can go and have x-rays done so that you will be able to see actual bone support of your teeth.the bone does regenerate with scaling if the mobility of your tooth is not that severe.
Reply:I was extremely neglectful with my teeth throughout my teenage years. I would never floss, probably usually just brush once a day...my gums were bad. Puffy, red, you name it. My teeth were actually very good and to this day I still only have one cavity (I'm 21). But I started flossing before I went to bed and my gums are perfect now. The dentist remarked today about my teeth and gums---and I hadn't been there in three years. Not that I recommed that, but I have dental anxiety issues. Anyway, my point is to keep on flossin'! Your teeth WILL get back to their natural, healthy state if you haven't let them go too long. My gums were horrid and now they're in tip top shape with just a little flossing and an extra brush every day. Your braces may also be making your tooth a bit loose. Remember, they're shifting around. Best to talk to your dentist if you're having any concerns. Good luck!
